woo hoo!

Hot diggety, I'm a "Highlight" on the NYT "Green Blog"!!

This is a bit about the oil spill.  In all the moaning (guys, they're just getting warmed up) people are starting to argue how rare this kind of thing is- and my response is- no, it was inevitable.  Not the same slant as "rare."

And the typical press response is still "ooh, maybe the worst won't happen, and these pelicans will magically escape the oncoming oil!  We just don't know yet!"  Yes, we do.  The Gulf- lots of it- is toast. Only question is, how many years to anything like a recovery.

I do a fair amount of commenting in several places- there are lots of days when my lobotomy will let me respond to a statement in ok fashion; but won't give me the ability to put a coherent and hopefully worthwhile independent post here.

  :-)

Have a nice day, if possible.

Congratulations. You are truly a voice of sanity and commonsense. I almost always learn something new and fascinating from your comments on other blogs. Thanks.

I think I'm glad I don't have to live in that vicinity - its bad enough second hand!

Winter has set in again - youngest forgot to wear his jacket this morning and it rained. I suppose he now looks like a drowned rat at school after 8.5 km of biking. Maybe he'll remember next time but I'm not holding my breath :)

I keep hoping people with responsibility will learn from their past mistakes but apparently not. All William will get is a bad cold at worst. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the poor Gulf which was already suffering from other stuff.

Congratulations! The excuse is that it didn't happen on their watch, the ship was loaned out to other people using different protocols...it's a new approach to CYA fast-talk.

Yup Greenpa, it was 100% inevitable, and any that think otherwise is 100% in denial.

On 18 March, 1967 the 'Torrey Canyon' carrying a cargo of 120000 tons of crude oil was shipwrecked off the western coast of Cornwall. The place is still suffering from polution.

Just how much oil is escaping from the USA BP rig disaster?
