Whole Planet Picnic Time

Typically, time has snuck up on me. Surprise- the Summer Solstice is tonight: 5:45 Coordinated Universal Time- which translates into 45 minutes after midnight here in Minnesota.

I think.

In any case- we're having our Whole Planet Picnic here tonight, Saturday, bonfire and friends.

If you're not familiar with this concept, start off with the link above, and then use the site search tool to look for a bunch of different posts on "planet picnic".

We're still doing it- hope those of you who've participated in the past can again (in spite of the insanely short notice- you could also do it on Sunday, of course, since technically that's the official solstice date...)

Zooming off; have to get some mowing done before it gets hot- we're supposed to hit 85°F today; probably our hottest day of the year so far.

Celebrate!

Anyway!

:-)

Sounds like a blast! It's raining here again, I mean still. I'm having my brothers over tonight so I guess that'll be our celebration :)

mid winter celebrations are planned round here. The kids are making candle lanterns for the event. Hopefully there won't be wind like last time. We walked through the bush with the odd torch because the lanterns were all blown out. It was unpleasantly cold too so we did a very short walk and were pleased to get back to the shared dinner. (wonderful pumpkin soup, home made bread and the most marvelous chocolate cakes amongst other goodies).

We spent the day watching a bunch of people ride bikes naked in the Fremont Solstice Parade. Some people really were in need of more body paint.

Glad to hear you celebrated this year! Was there music from the creek as well?
