Life is sweet.

Yes, it is.

In spite of all the hyper-abundant crap we carp about constantly.

We actually had frost last night- not a killing freeze, but very light.  Leading to a brilliant, crisp Autumn morning for Smidgen's first day of - pre-school.

Spice and I and Beelar, her big brother, walked her out through the apples to meet the neighbor who's sharing driving chores with us.

So, I got to wake up early; make some hot coffee on our woodstove, which kept us warm all night, burning wood from trees I planted myself (with Beelar's help) - then walk out, through apple trees (which I planted and grafted 25 years ago) drooping with fruit in spite of no real rain since June- (really) and watch two of my children together, taking a big step forward -

Spice went along with the neighbor, who has twins; and brought back this pic of Smidgen feeling her way into school- first day, first moments- with "her" twins on either side.

Worth a lot.  Worth remembering, that the good times, the good things, are still there; even when the worries and bad stuff keeps piling up.

Happy Autumn out there.

Oh! Congratulations Smidgeon on your first day of school!

It's me said...

No matter what we worry about, they just keep on keeping on.

That's a good thing. :)

Wonderful pictures. That's really all there is when it comes right down to it. Thanks for the reminder, I think I'll go home and cuddle my kids.

Pretty soon Smidgeon will be known as Smidge and boys will follow her home. How is it possible they grow so fast?
Last week Grace, my 5 year old granddaughter started kindergarten. "Nana, when the bus driver goes like this (raises her right arm) that means no talking. And when my teacher goes like this (raises her left arm) that means no talking." Grace is a non-stop talker. This will be a tough year. :)

Life's great most of the time, especially days like the one captured in the photo. OK, you get a pass for now, but where oh where are the guinea photos? Spice, please take some guinea photos, Greenpa just can't get to it, thanks.

BTW, more data is being published along with analysis {see Ilargi today Sept 10} that supports your idea of speculation in commodities.
But that still doesn't mean you can avoid publishing guinea photos.

That first picture is worthy of framing. It gave me a very nice feeling. Thanks for sharing.

Lovely Greenpa, thanks for sharing this event with us, and for reminding us of the full-circle-ness of it all.

Hi, Sandyshoes- welcome. To me, the "fear that I may be a bore" is an good sign that someone is bright and worth listening to. The real bores never doubt the entire world will hang on their every syllable!

And everybody- please know that your comments are a delight, and always a high spot in my day- even when I don't have the time to answer back. Thanks!

Still overwhelmed with harvest stuff here; may get a bit more time before long...

Wildblue-
WHen Smidgeon was born GreenPa (one of the most mellow men in the world) said "It's a GIRL!!! WHen are the boys gonna show up and where do I hide the bodies?!?!"

They grow up too fast. My eldest just showed me (very carefully so as not to expose anything unnecessary) his very first non head hairs.

He was such a cute toddler.....sigh.

He will be 12 next week.
